Day 15: Savannah (GA) – Port Royal (SC)

Short summary (Apr 12th, 2022):
Today, we did a comparably short stage with around 52 miles / 83 km in around 6 hrs (incl. breaks).
Leaving Savannah, we had to get around the large container harbor and then continued mostly along CR170 and parts of US17. Almost all day, there was quite some traffic so we had to cycle carefully. Just
before Okatie and Port Royal a bike trail resp. some smaller roads.

Since we left Florida, we have to plan our stages a little more carefully as the distances between Hotels/B&B get longer. As we found no options between Beaufort and Charleston, we had to go a little shorter today (50 miles) and to reach Charleston tomorrow in a little longer stage (75 miles).

In Port Royal, we visited Fort Frederick.
