Day 14: Darien – Savannah

Short Summary (Apr 11th, 2022):
Until Savannah, we did around 73 miles / 117 km in about 8 hrs (almost no wind).
After Darien, we followed first a bike trail and then a small road for around 15 miles, then we got onto US17 for almost 50 miles (first no traffic, around Riceboro started moderate traffic until Savannah). As US17 got very narrow entering Savannah, we took the Greenway route that allowed a safer way to get into the historic districts.

We got a very good breakfast from Zach in Open Gates B&B that gave a good start into the day.

Then we followed a bike trail and then a small road through a very nice landscape.

Saw again some vultures:

And came across the smallest church:

After that around 50 miles on US17 and then entering Savannah again on smaller roads.

In Savannah, we have again a very nice Bed and Breakfast (Bed and Breakfast Inn Savannah) located in three old houses.

The historic towncenter is picturesque – and on the river, there was besides the river boats even a large container ship.

Last but not least – yes, there are breweries in Savannah. We stopped at New Realm Brewing for some very nice beers and good food.
