Day 13: Kingsland – Darien

Short summary (Apr 10th, 2022):
Today, we did around 64 miles / 102 km in around 7 hrs (almost no wind).
We started on US17 and – thanks to almost no traffic on Sunday morning – continued on US17 until Brunswick.
Passing Brunswick was less interesting than we expected, after Brunswick a nice bike track and then back on US17 until Darien.

This morning, we started with quite chilly temperatures. As it was Sunday morning, US17 was almost empty and so we just followed it until Brunswick over more than 40 miles with some little breaks.

And we saw even some vultures …

Before Brunswick, we passed the impressive Sidney Lanier Bridge and had a short break for lunch just after it.

After that, we followed the route through Brunswick (we were a little disappointed as we had expected more ambience). After Brunswick, there were a few miles of a bike track (extension is work in progress).

Then we were back on US17 for a few miles until Darien.

In Darien, we had a warm welcome from Zach of the Open Gates B&B – a beautiful and quite place to spend a night.

As we arrived rather early today (around 1500), we had the chance to have a little walk through Darien …

… until the historic site of Fort King George.

All the miles cycled today and the visiting the fort allowed us for some nice beer/wine in the Waterfront Wine & Gourmet and a dinner in Spartina Grill.

Super Abwechslungsroute nach den Bildern zu schließen, und das Fort King George ist aus Holz? Gute Weiterfahrt!
