Day 50: Providence (RI) – New Bedford (MA)

Short summary (May 17th, 2022):
We cycled around 43 miles / 68 km in 7 hrs.
Leaving Providence, we followed the East Bay Bike Path for around 10 miles. Then smaller roads and some shorter bike trails until New Bedford.

Leaving Providence, we came quickly to the East Bay Bike Path (again an old railroad track) and came across the Pomham Lighthouse.

After leaving the Bike Path, we followed smaller roads and left Rhode Island arriving in Massachusetts.

In Fall River, the museum ship USS Massachusetts (and others in Battleship Cove).

Then again smaller roads and some trails until New Bedford.

New Bedford is an old whaling city and still is an important fishing port.

For dinner, we were at Moby Dick Brewing – the name is not by accident as New Bedford was the primary setting of the novel Moby Dick.
