Day 46: New Haven – Hartford

Summary (May 13th, 2022):
Today, we cycled around 55 miles / 88 km in 8 hrs.
The route first followed around 40 miles along the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail and then about 15 miles on smaller highways until Hartford.

Already in New Haven, we could start our tour on the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail, that follows a former canal built around 1830, that was replaced by a railroad around 1850.

On this trail – the confirmation that we‘ve already done around 3/4 of the overall East Coast Greenway.

After about 40 miles, the greenway left the trail and brought us over a short but steep hill into Hartford, the Capital City of Connecticut.

In Hartford – the Connecticut State Capitol

… Statues of Horace Wells and Israel Putnam

… the Old State House

… as well as further impressions.
Note – Flags are on half-staff for 1 Mio fatalities in the USA due to COVID.

And yes – some nice beers at City Steam Brewery.
