Day 3: Key Largo – Miami Beach

Short summary (Mar. 31st, 2022):
Roughly 75 Miles/120 km, 10.5 hrs on the road (incl. breaks), some wind (tailwind or from the side).
Along A1 and C905 bike lanes, C905A for more than 15 Miles no shoulder but not too much traffic.
Afterwards separate and well indicated bike lane following the public transport (bus and railway), whilst crossing the center of Miami was somehow less prepared.

During breakfast in Key Largo, some intered squirrels were visiting.

After breakfast as all days – filling up our water bottles.

After leaving the bike lane near A1 (after having passed Mile 100) and following C905, our day became much more quiet thanks to the reduced traffic. We then followed C905A towards Homestead (luckily with tailwind) and left the Florida Keys passing the Card Sound Bridge.

After lunch in Homestead, we we the bike lane along a separate bus lane (with some construction work going on). The frequent stop-and-go slowed us somehow down – so we took longer than expected to reach Miami center.

In Homestead we saw the first East Coast Greenway Sign!

Finally, we reached Miami center and crossed it to continue until Miami Beach.

So after a long day, we were happy to get a shower in our hotel and a nice dinner at the Yard House with some local beer.
