Day 21: North Myrtle Beach (SC) – Wilmington (NC)

Short summary (Apr 18th, 2022):
Around 80 miles / 129 km in around 10 hrs (incl. breaks and time on the ferry) with a lot of rain.
The greenway was mostly following smaller roads that would have made the stage a pleasant one – the rain made it a very wet one.

First some impressions from yesterday – incl. a baptism at the beach on Easter Sunday morning. And observe the different sizes of the beach …

Not so many photos from the first part of today due to the rain. But our rain gear worked quite well. Shortly after North Myrtle Beach, we crossed the border to North Carolina.

A nice break was using the Southport – Fort Fisher Ferry.

On the other side – the historic site of Fort Fisher with two large battles fought in 1865 during civil war.

And – we finally spotted an alligator. Probably at the last possible moment on our tour.

Then we continued along some beaches until we reached Wilmington, a city with quite some history. And the next old Battleship: USS North Carolina. we stayed at a nice B&B – Dreamers Welcome.

And yes – a brewery for dinner and some well-deserved beers (Front Street Brewery).

Plus – the Untappd headquarter.
