Short summary (May 29th, 2022):
Today we did a short stage of about 44 miles / 70 km in around 6 hrs.
The greenway route follows US-1 in this area. We took a little extension passing through Surry as we were too early for the check-in in our hotel.
We started in the morning with a superb breakfast in the Jeweled Turret Inn.
Then we left Belfast over the Passagassawakeag River and continued along US-1.
Near Bucksport, the Penobscot Narrow Bridge …
… and the historic Fort Knox.
Interesting: same road but three directions.
Then again US-1 and the little detour to Surry with blueberry fields.
In Surry, a break for an ice cream at Pugnuts.
Then we continued until Ellsworth – with Airline Brewing Company and Fogtown Brewing Company. In Fogtown Brewing, we had a very nice encounter getting to know Grace and Bob and an interesting conversation with them.
And finally – Calais is now signaled …
