Short summary (May 1st, 2022):
Today, we did around 72 miles / 115 km in about 10 hrs on the road with a little rain after 15:00.
Leaving Washington uses many bike lanes and trails, then followed by smaller roads until Annapolis. Then around 15 miles of the Baltimore-Annapolis Trail and then again some smaller roads/trails into Baltimore.
We left Washington along the National Mall, then through residential quarters and over trails and finally on smaller roads until Annapolis passing the Naval Academy.
After Annapolis, the Baltimore & Annapolis Trail on a former railroad track that was very nice to cycle. When we had done about half of the trail and arrived at the ranger station, it started to rain. First, we thought we could wait for it to stop – but then realized checking the radar that it will last longer – so we put on our rain gear and continued.
Finally, we arrived in Baltimore passing the Inner Harbour with the USS Constellation from 1854, USS Torsk from WW II and USCGC Taney. And with some NY flavor …
Our hotel is obviously a very traditional one with some historic installations.
For dinner, we went to Blackwall Hitch for Oysters and Crabcake – we‘re on the East Coast 🙂
